Portrait Doll assignment in my Advanced 2D studio of my senior year at DAAP. We were assigned another student in the class to portray and to capture their likeness. Doll is made of wire structure, foil, polymer clay, yarn, fabric and paint. This was my first experience with polymer clay and sculpting the human figure. Clothes were hand sewn. Included is an image of “real” Sam and doll Sam in order to compare similarities and to see the scale. Doll is able to sit up on it’s own and features marionette style shoulders, elbow and knees so that the legs may be crossed.
